Vaal Airport City will be one of the first purpose-built aviation cities in Africa

The Vaal Aerotropolis will serve as the freight and logistics hub of the Sedibeng Vaal Special Economic Zone (SEZ), a key economic development initiative set to transform the Vaal region of Gauteng province, South Africa.

The Vaal Aerotropolis, to be developed as a Public Private Partnership, will have a capacity of 27 million passengers and 500,000 tons of cargo per annum, serving as a crucial catalyst for global business and trade, just 50 minutes by road from Johannesburg and positioned to serve the SADC market. 

The Vaal Aerotropolis development will include a cargo terminal, international airport, airport trade zone, and agri zone, with world-class facilities and incentives, making a compelling business case for international airlines. The project will also include Vaal Airport City, one of the first purpose-built aviation cities in Africa, with a minimum 4-star green rating and facilities for offices, retail, hospitality, and leisure.
